Costa del Sol: 7 days / 6 nights / 5 rounds of golf Day 1: Depart from the USA for Spain; all flights are overnight. Allow for the 6 hour time difference from EST. Enjoy dinner and the movie on board. Day 2: You will be met on arrival at Malaga airport in the early morning by an AtlanticGolf representative who is there to welcome you to Ireland and assist you in any way necessary. Pick up your rental vehicle or meet your driver and head off to Marbella, a 45minute r drive through pleasant scenery. Day 3: Following a traditional Scottish breakfast, head north to play one of the world’ best links. Dornoch is a cathedral city on the edge of the Dornoch Firth, a designated National Scenic Area. Following golf, consider driving the short 15 minutes to see the British enclave of Gibraltar (passports required). This is a 300 year old British military base at the mouth of the Straits of Gibraltar just 10 miles form the African coast. Day 4: After breakfast, drive to the sumptuous surroundings of Villa Padierna; the course was host to the Spanish Seniors Matchplay Championship for years. Try to play early today so you can visit the magnificent town of Ronda (48 km) high in the Sierra Ronda mountain range. The town is perched on a 300 foot high gorge overlooking the plains south of Seville. Day 6: Stay local today. Golf at the Marbella Club
Following golf, consider a trip to the nearby gastronomic village of Benahavis, reputed to have more restaurants than dwellings. Day 7: The big one today, host to the Ryder Cup inn 1997 Golf at Valderrama
Visitor times here are from noon to 1 pm, so you will finish your round around 5 pm, so think about a trip to the picturesque “Pueblo Blanco” of Casares which is en route back to then hotel. This is a typical Andalucian vibrant village which will give you a feel for the “real’ Spain. Day 8: Leave Marbella for Malaga, drop off the minivan and depart from sunny Spain. Malaga has a big Duty Free shop to explore, but remember that international visitors can reclaim Value Added Tax at Departure on all purchases taken home.
