Following golf, consider some sightseeing, maybe a side trip into Dublin Day 4: Golf at the K Club / Smurfit course
After breakfast, transfer to Kenmare in county Kerry. This is the one longer than normal drive on this trip, it takes about 4 hours. Kenmare is a lively and colorful town with a reputation for fine restaurants, so a visit after golf is recommended.
Check into the Park Hotel for 3 nights
Day 5: Breakfast at the hotel before the trip west to Waterville, located on the scenic Ring of Kerry. Golf at Waterville Carts available all year; caddies in the summer. Practice facility/range
Waterville is halfway round the Ring and the best scenery is between the village and Killarney particularly from Kenmare to Killarney over the mountains. The drive back to Kenmare is less than half an hour Day 6: Off to Ballybunion today. The drive is about an hour and a half, through the towns of Tralee and Listowel. Ballybunion is a small, fairly quiet town with a big name course. Golf at Ballybunion Old Caddies available, no carts. (Carts only on the Cashen course) Practice facility/range.
You have to drive through Killarney on this trip, if time allows, stop to see the Lakes, the views are spectacular. Day 7: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading off to county Clare. The most interesting route is through Limerick, so you can stop at Adare village and see some of the ancient monuments. As you pass Bunratty village, consider a visit to the Castle & Folk Park and Durty Nellies pub always attracts a crowd, regardless of the time of day!
Check into Dromoland Castle for two nights.
An authentic grand castle which is the ancestral home of the O’Briens, barons of Inchiquin and direct descendants of Brian Boru, High King of Ireland. It traces its history back to Gaelic royal families.
Dinner should be at the Castle on at least one of your two nights. Day 8: Not much traveling today. Lahinch is about 40 minutes from your hotel. Golf at Lahinch One of Ireland’s “must sees”; the Cliffs of Moher are 15 minutes drive north of Lahinch – a fascinating sight, worth a visit. As is the Burren National Park.
Day 9: Leave Lahinch for Shannon airport, a 15 minute trip. It was here that Irish coffee was invented in the late 1940’s. Shannon has a big Duty Free shop to explore, but remember that international visitors can reclaim Value Added Tax at Departure on all purchases taken home.
